FAQ & General Guidelines on Submission

1.  Why this compilation?

Ans. Simply because we like supporting and promoting good music/artists.

2. What are the genres covered?

Ans. Although we don’t like to get too specific but we recommend you to check out our Reviews/Interviews. You get a taste of what kind of artists we cover and similar kind of artists we always look for compilation. Our aim is to support quality artists falling under genres such as ambient, drone, experimental, modern classical, post-rock, shoegaze,electronic and similar indie genres.

3. Do you specifically need an unreleased track? Why?

Ans. Well, I can say that released tracks are fine in various conditions but unreleased tracks are always preferred and favored. Reason is simple : An Unreleased track gives more exposure to artist as well as to compilation. So exclusives are always welcome.

Following is the order of preference for track submission:

• An Unreleased Original and Mastered track
• A different mix or remix of an existing track
• A previously released single
• Track from recently released or about to release album
• Already released track on album
• A Cover track (given you have all the necessary permissions and formalities required from original artist/label)

Also, nature of tracks submission accepted also depends on nature of compilation. For example, if there is an appropriate theme on THAT particular compilation, we might only accept unreleased tracks.

4. I haven’t released anything before but I wish to submit a track. Is that okay?

Ans. Yes! You are always welcome to submit.  We are mainly looking for good music regardless of how much of music you have previously released or made.

5. Will I get paid if my track gets selected?

Ans. Answer is NO! The compilation isn’t meant for profit. Our compilations will be available for free on bandcamp as free download (and occasionally “pay whatever you want”).

6. Did I just read “pay whatever you want”? then where will this money go?

Ans. This money will go to cover various costs. Although its just a beginning but we have some plans for future compilations (just note these are just PLANS). Such as professional mastering and small physical releases. So all this money received will just cover the expenses. We will not get profited from it. Don’t worry. After we have recovered the recurring costs, we will avail it as a free download. Hoping that’s fair enough. Also, physical release and professional mastering will not always happen. Its just a plan so far. Artists will be getting to know about it.

7. So, shall I submit a mastered track or un-mastered track? What about formats?

Ans. Mastered track is preferred. Since, most of the time, we will offer free digital download, its not feasible to get whole compilation professionally mastered. But please make sure you read previous Question.
About formats, we accept anything in lossless (.wav, .flac, .aif). As long as bandcamp supports it, we are good to go.  No low bitrate/mp3 stuff please. Get serious?

8. If I SUBMIT a track, does that mean my appearance on compilation is confirmed? How many tracks can I submit?

Ans. Not at all. When a track is submitted by artist, we will judge the track(s) received and let you know our thoughts over it. Judgement will be done by various people associated to The Future Elements. Main factor of judgement will be how good the track is and how it stands/fits to the rest of compilation. Make sure you read “conditions” below. You can submit as many tracks as you would like but 1-3 tracks may be optimum. Just make sure they fit to our genre requirements.

9. What are the conditions we have to agree to?

Ans. Basically, by submitting a track , by default you give distribution rights to The Future Elements. Also,  besides all the points mentioned above, you also give us every right to accept or reject track based on whatsoever reason. In case, if there are any more ‘conditions’ or as such, you will be informed.
